something to start with...

The US has been a fundamentally negative driving force in the world for at least a century now. Bush was really shitty, but most of the other administrations were still pretty shitty. Colonialism/imperialism/globalization are likely to continue in lousy ways (and a few small good ones) for many years to come. Obama is great compared to Bush, but he still leads Empire, and empires don't have a very good record of doing more good than harm.
